I interviewed 3 people, Rick, Walter, and Tracy. I explained m product of rental bikes around campus in order for them to clearly understand what was asked of them. The following are their thoughts, not by verbatim.
Alternative Evaluation
I asked the three people their alternative solutions they would most likely lean towards if forced to make a decision.
Rick explained chose his solution depending on how far he is from his destination and his familiarity with the area. Uber or Lyft are his go to's (depending on which is cheaper), and in regards to the quality, he's never had an issue. His main concern is convenience and price.
Walter has a personal vehicle, however, he catches the bus mainly when its close by. It is a free service to him since he is a UF student, however, he as well uses Uber or Lyft when needs to get somewhere and doesn't want to worry about parking. Time is his main concern when it comes down to it for him.
Stacey drives everywhere. She lives near campus and personally doesn't like the bus, so she pays for parking and drives to school and works every day. When she's not the one driving, she and her friends usually split an Uber or walk. You won't catch her on the bus, ever, according to her. Comfort is her main concern when it comes to travel around the city.
How/where do they buy
Since coincidentally all three of my interviewees rely on Uber or Lyft when it comes to last-minute decisions, they purchase their "service" online via their phones. Their purchase satisfaction depends on the extremity of the need for the purchase.
Summary
Rick, Walter, and Stacey share similar needs and a common go-to solution. This is mainly influenced by their distinct personalities, however, the same conclusion nonetheless.
Drawing Conclusions
Rick could definitely use my rental bike product whenever he needs to get somewhere fast and is familiar with the area. This would save him money and time depending on where he is. Walter can avoid the bus altogether if he were to use my product and invest those savings into his lunch later on. Stacey is all about comfort for she doesn't enjoy being close to all those people. My product would serve as a simple and effective solution. Their alternatives are in simple terms "basic" because its the most known and reliable one in this generation. I believe just the mere option if presented can truly impact the approach of their travel methods and needs.
Hi Marco! Great post, it was very clear. I relate a lot to Walter as I too have a personal vehicle but to save gas and time to find a parking space, I take the bus everyday to class. Would your service only be offered on campus? If so, this may solve the problem of getting to different places on campus but not for those individuals trying to commute to campus. Affordability like you mentioned is always a large concern especially to students, so I am happy you are aware of this to accommodate your service to ensure demand.
ReplyDeleteHi Marco! Your interviews definitely gave some great insight on what your potential customers are looking for. I frequently use Uber due to the convenience but I definitely care about price the most when choosing whether to use Uber or it's competitors. Time is also extremely important to me because I often turn to Uber when I'm in a rush and wouldn't have time to find parking. Overall, this was a really great post!
ReplyDeleteHi Marco, well done on your interviews! I can personally see that your interviews were very well executed. I am able to see how your potential customers behave. As a student without a vehicle, I relate to Rick. As long as it is efficient and cost-friendly, I am impartial to transportation. Your conclusions also prove that you definitely understood the needs and wants behind each interview.
