Assignment 16

The ways my human capital makes me unique is really dependent on the task or situation I am placed in.

- For starters, I enjoy bringing about positivity to the people I come in contact with. Even if we do not have an established relationship, I like to give out guidance and thoughts from my own experiences in order to help out the person I am addressing (when they ask for it of course).

-My goal-oriented mindset puts me in front of any competitor I want to compete with. I want to be the best I could be in order to benefit those around. This includes my family, friends, and any customers I have the opportunity to interact with.

- My care for the communities and personal aesthetics has given me a confident personality. My philosophy is that if you look good, you feel good in which it will equate to being content with yourself. Self-confidence is key for a successful business and sharing that type of energy with others makes me a very personable individual to be around.

- My experience with dealing with multiple, diverse people has bestowed me with a better appreciation and respect to anyone with differing backgrounds. You can never attain too much knowledge.

- My knowledge and awareness of the world around me. Since I am also part of the community I am trying to sell to, I know through the first-hand experience what my community lacks, and what type of service or product it needs in order function more efficiently. "I am a man of the people, not above but equal" - Jermaine Cole.

The link above is the link to all my interviews 1-5

1) My oldest friend. He describes my loyalty to the investments of friendships and projects I place myself in.

2) Longtime friend. He describes how dependable I am.

3) In this interview, he describes how much of a mentor I am to him and those around. We have both helped each other grow.

4) The following interview is from my roommate that has gotten to know me well. He describes my determination for success.

5) My friend here in Gainesville. We have gotten to know each other pretty well and describes my honesty as his main observation.

Summary

All my interviewees see me in a similar fashion. Coincidentally, they described me similar to my own list I bestowed myself as well. A similar characteristic everyone said about me is my overall positivity and adaptability. If I had the option to change my list, I do not think I have to because I do not deem it necessary.

Assignment 15

I interviewed 3 people, Rick, Walter, and Tracy. I explained m product of rental bikes around campus in order for them to clearly understand what was asked of them. The following are their thoughts, not by verbatim.

Alternative Evaluation
I asked the three people their alternative solutions they would most likely lean towards if forced to make a decision.

Rick explained chose his solution depending on how far he is from his destination and his familiarity with the area. Uber or Lyft are his go to's (depending on which is cheaper), and in regards to the quality, he's never had an issue. His main concern is convenience and price.

Walter has a personal vehicle, however, he catches the bus mainly when its close by. It is a free service to him since he is a UF student, however, he as well uses Uber or Lyft when needs to get somewhere and doesn't want to worry about parking. Time is his main concern when it comes down to it for him.

Stacey drives everywhere. She lives near campus and personally doesn't like the bus, so she pays for parking and drives to school and works every day. When she's not the one driving, she and her friends usually split an Uber or walk. You won't catch her on the bus, ever, according to her. Comfort is her main concern when it comes to travel around the city.

How/where do they buy
Since coincidentally all three of my interviewees rely on Uber or Lyft when it comes to last-minute decisions, they purchase their "service" online via their phones. Their purchase satisfaction depends on the extremity of the need for the purchase.

Summary
Rick, Walter, and Stacey share similar needs and a common go-to solution. This is mainly influenced by their distinct personalities, however, the same conclusion nonetheless.

Drawing Conclusions
Rick could definitely use my rental bike product whenever he needs to get somewhere fast and is familiar with the area. This would save him money and time depending on where he is. Walter can avoid the bus altogether if he were to use my product and invest those savings into his lunch later on. Stacey is all about comfort for she doesn't enjoy being close to all those people. My product would serve as a simple and effective solution. Their alternatives are in simple terms "basic" because its the most known and reliable one in this generation. I believe just the mere option if presented can truly impact the approach of their travel methods and needs.

Assignment 14

Consistency is key. The behaviors that helped me to stay on track for the success of this course was to know what I needed to do for the week and set aside a day to do them. They can become excruciating tedious and annoying due to differing schedule per week, but I promise you it is manageable. There's always going to be a slight free time where you can get those assignments in.

I wanted to give up so many times, however, I literally need this class in order to stay on track for my Innovation Minor, and a class as easy as this one will not stand in the way between that. This class has improved my time management substantially.

Three tips I can offer would be:

Set your schedule with all your due dates
Do the assignments fast and early in order to not conflict with other assignments later in the week
Don't stress out the assignments too much. Each task is very simple and following the structure will get you where you need to be in no time.

Assignment 13

What surprised me the most about Ray Kroc and his story about how he successfully acquired the company McDonald's was his determination and ruthless ambition to make the franchise what it is today. Sadly, he was a very narcissistic and manipulative individual, and that is what made him a great entrepreneur. His success came from him manipulating the original McDonald brothers and turning their idea into his own concept. That is the part I found least attracting, however, from a utilitarian position, his method brought about the most overall "wellbeing". He encountered many adversity and failure due to his limitations with his original contract, however, he teamed up with the best people for the situation at hand in order to get out of the unfortunate position. The most respectable thing I would have to say about Ray Kroc was that he wasn't too narcissistic to understand and accept help when he knew he needed it.

The main competencies Ray Kroc demonstrated was persistence and determination

The part of the reading that was most confusing to me was the fact that he actually left his long term wife after she was so supportive of him through all the trials and tribulations he had to go through.

"The way that you did Dick and Mac, it was selfish and abusive in the end. If you could have done any differently, would you have and why?" I think this question is interesting because its directly addressing his character and how he felt in the end. Also, was there anything you would've said differently to your ex-wife through the divorce?

His opinion of hard work, I believe, was persistence and determination.

Assignment 12

I spent the majority of half the day to find people that would benefit most from the hypothetical service I have to offer. The three people I interviewed consist of two students and an adult neighbor that works full time in a store nearby. The first person I interviewed lives on campus and told me the time she had to go to Infinity Hall for a meeting once. She could have taken the bus, but she believed it was not going to get her in the room on time. She resulted in taking an Uber because she felt the importance of the meeting was worth the price of the overpriced Uber. The other student I interviewed had to do some grocery shopping and had to walk all the way to Publix and carry the bags to his dorm room. He found no solution for the bus route would not have been efficient for him. My neighbor lives near his job. He lives very close and sometimes wishes to not have to take his car every time he needs to go to work. He isn't very affluent, so he sometimes walks to work if he finds the time.

From these three situations I was enlightened with, via the interviews, I found that the secondary option these people became dependent on were not very practical alternatives, even though they got the job done. Based on what I know about this segment, I can tell that the alternatives these people came up with were either hurting their bank account or their level of comfort.

Assignment 11

Who I am:

I am a sophomore at the University of Florida, no different than my classmates. I am currently employed at a financial center here in Gainesville, Fl. With this job, I have attained the proper skills of persuasion and it has made me an approachable person for people to come to me for advice and guidance for their financial decisions. This has given me a sense of general purpose for what I want to do with my life. An ideal endgame would be to make a product or offer a solution that would help those in my community, whatever the service or product may be.

What I am offering

Some students in Gainesville lack proper transportation, and I want to do my best to help facilitate that need. With a biking rental system in Gainesville, this need will be met to those people that find the service suitable in their lifestyle.

Who I am offering it to:

I am offering this service to anybody that needs or finds the service most convenient.

Why do they care?

Most people do not need this service for they have transportation of their own. However, what our local business is trying to do is to let the community know that whatever hardships they may be going through, whatever struggles that are clinging on their lives that our company is trying to put back faith in this community.

Core Competencies:

If our service deems successful, hopefully, we can start on our other products that can make living in Gainesville easier, and therefore more comfortable. The investment from our service will be put back into the community in a new innovative way.

Summary:
I believe these elements of my perspective and my goals outside the company have an intertwining relationship. I believe this makes the product stronger rather than weaker. Most companies plan to use the revenue from customers to make more of the same service they make without finding new solutions for a positive change. Our company wants to break that trend.

Assignment 9

The 5 people interviewed have been well informed of my GatorRiderz idea. They are people just on the cusp of being potential customers.

Mark: "That sounds ideal, it really does. However, I don't see how it may be much use to me. I live on campus and if I really need to get somewhere I just walk or have my friends take me. It really isn't that big a deal for me. I am very a very structural person so you will almost never catch me being late anywhere unless I want to be."

Tina: "I take my car everywhere I need to go to non-campus relate. You are never gonna see me on a bike in downtown when I don't need to."

Morgan: It's not a good idea for me. I already have a bike. I don't need another one that isn't really mine. The idea of parking it at a predetermined spot isn't as efficient as me parking my bike anywhere with a chain.

Steve: "That's just weird, touching other peoples seats? No way. I'm hesitant with the bus, but an actual bike? Nope, sorry. I'd honestly just split an Uber."

Rose: "I would totally use it if I lived on campus and need to take groceries to my dorm and stuff like that. I know how this city works from the three years I've lived here, you need a car to be the most efficient and I already have one. So thank you, but no thank you."

Table

Inside the Boundary

  • Who is in- people who don't have a car and live somewhat close to campus
  • What the need is- convenient last minute means to get from A to B
  • Why need exists- Gainesville is a cesspool of people with different ways of living. Some like to walk but others may prefer to bike. This would give the option to at least choose.
Outside the Boundary
  • Who is not- people who are already used to the ambiance of Gainesville and feel like they don't need such a service.
  • What the need is not- convenient to the people that already fulfill this need by some other means
  • Alternative explanations- For the way the city is structured and such, there really isn't a need for another source of transport, even if it may deem ideal for some students and residents of Gainesville.
Summary:
So in conclusion, not everyone would think this idea will suit them. In my opinion, that is definitely ok. The purpose of the service is to be convenient, not demanding. If people prefer to do what they have been doing since day one then they are more than welcome to do so. However, I believe the people that this service is best for will indeed make a positive impact on the community as a whole.
